One of the true joys of this - the Campaign for The Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe - is the wide range of commemorative gift opportunities the campaign makes possible. Indeed, we have no parishioners to call upon. Our parish rests within the heart of every visitor and it is upon their spiritual involvement and generosity that we depend. Commemorative gifts afford the faithful a chance to forever link their own family name with this great undertaking - or to honor and perpetuate here the name of a loved one, living or deceased.
Several of these named gift opportunities provide for specially engraved plaques or nameplates. But all memorial donors receive a framed certificate attesting to their memorial; a personal listing in Stars in Mary's Crown, the Commemorative Register now on permanent display at the Shrine; remembrance in every mass; and all the spiritual benefits accorded the family of the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe.

To provide a roof for Mary's Shrine - this is the most affordable of our giving opportunities and one of the most important tasks in constructing the Shrine Church. Those who donate a marble Sanctuary Stone are helping to lay the foundations for the Shrine Altar - which is the heart of our Church. On this Altar, Christ is offered to the Father and becomes present to His people. Appropriately, these contibutors will each be recognized with a handsome, framed certificate. Bronze doors, sculpted with scences from the Old and New Testaments, adorning the entryway provide an opportunity for proclaiming the Gospel message even when the Church is closed. Your name or that of a loved on permanently etched on a beautiful plaque that is placed at the entry of the Pilgrimage Center. There are three levels of recognition. A most beautiful way to honor the special relationship that exists between mothers and their children is through a named plaque in the Shrine's Outdoor Chapel.
