Basilica Tabernacle

Jerzy Kenar

1993

The tabernacle is the dwelling place for the divine presense.  The Basilica's tabernacle is surrounded by distinct layers of art glass and supported by linden wood arches representing what the artist states as energy flowing from Christ and God's love going every which way.  The tabernacle itself  is crafted from walnut, ebony and a highly polished purple heart wood found in Brazil - very fitting for the "heart" of the church.   The bronze doors were created to look like a net full of fish.
