Station Description: Jesus calmly meets the women of Jerusalem who have shown deep faith in following Him. The crowd of women is diverse: young women, carrying their infants, stand together with their elders whose wise, wrinkled face are deeply saddened. Some women kneel in prayer, others close their eyes with hands clasped, and some are distraught and weeping. Some turn their eyes to Jesus and others to Heaven.
Lightning comes down from ominous clouds.
The mountains and hills appear to fall and cover the crowd (Luke 23:30).
A woman kneels at the feet of Jesus and reaches to touch the hem of his garment.
Above Jesus is a healthy (green) tree, and to the left is a dry tree that will be cut and thrown into a fire (Luke 23:31).
At the top right portion of the Station, there is a corpse with eagles surrounding it (Matthew 24:28; Luke 17:37).
