Nationally-known organist Dr. Steven Ball will accompany a rarely screened silent movie, “Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ” in a free concert. “Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ” was produced in 1925 and is an American silent epic adventure-drama classic. Its famous chariot race and early technicolor sequences made the film a huge hit when first released. It was selected for preservation in the United States national Film Registry as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Dr. Ball serves as the organist of the Tampa Theatre as well as Director of Music and Organist at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida. He will be performing on the 5,200+ pipes of the Basilica’s fabulous Schoenstein pipe organ. His appearance is sponsored by the Ginsburg Family Foundation, Joseph and Jennifer Irrera and Erin and Joe Hyltin.
