Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of His garments

Home / Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of His garments

Station Description: Jesus looks up to Heaven as a Roman guard violently strips off His garment.

At the top of the Station, St. Michael the Archangel chases away the demon who pressed the cross down upon Jesus in the previous Station.

Behind a group of three Pharisees, the Prodigal Son returns to his father, who covers him with his robe (Luke 15:22).

A Roman soldier mixes wine with myrrh, which was used in ancient times as a painkiller (Mark 15:23).

Most of the crowd has left, but Mary, the mother of Jesus, John, and Mary Magdalene remain close to Jesus (John 19:25-27).

Jesus’ body is covered with wounds from the Scourging at the Pillar.

The ground is littered with skulls and bones, indicating they have arrived at Golgotha, which means the place of a skull (Matthew 27:33).
