Third Station: Jesus falls the first time

Home / Third Station: Jesus falls the first time

Station Description: Jesus falls with the cross crushing Him. This evokes sympathy from some, and rude gestures and spite from others.

The path leading out of the city clears as the crowd continues to jeer.

At the top left of the Station, the two thieves who will be crucified with Jesus are beaten and tortured.

To their right, a straight and narrow path leads to the Tree of Life bearing fruit (Matthew 7:13-14).

In front of a camel, a man with a missing a tooth tries to remove a tooth from another man’s mouth.

Above the Roman soldier on the right side of the Station, Mary hides her face in her hands in sorrow.

To the right of Mary, a strong man guarding his house is confronted with an even stronger man (Mark 3:27; Luke 11:22-22).
