Station Description: Jesus is crucified amidst a dramatic thirty-foot long scene.

Left Panel

Soldiers cast lots for Christ’s garment, and the dice rolled shows 6-6-6 (John 24:25).

Above them, an angel divides flocks of sheep and goats, with the sheep on the right and goats on the left (Matthew 25:33).

To the right, a house has a hole in its roof (Mark 2:1-12).

On the left and right side of the Station, the Temple veil is torn in two (Luke 23:45).

Middle Panel

In the foreground, two cherubs weep near the feet of Jesus.

Next to Jesus, both Romans and Jews are shaken. A Roman soldier with a spear looks upon Jesus, understanding the significance of the moment.

Jesus’ feet are surrounded by grape vines (John 15:5).

One Pharisee is on his kneels gathering thistles (Matthew 7:16).

Above the Pharisees to the left, there are two people, one embraces the other while the other tries to hit him.

Five foolish virgins with oil for their lamps wait outside while five wise virgins welcome the bridegroom inside the house. (Matthew 25:1-13).

To the right, a kneeling man celebrates as he unburies treasure (Matthew 13:44).

Right Panel

To the right of Jesus’ feet, a man pulls a sheep from a hole in the earth (Matthew 12:11).

Mary, the mother of Jesus, with John and Mary Magdalene on either side, kneels with her arms outstretched as if to hold the body of her son in her arms.

To their left, a hen gathers her brood under her wings (Matthew 23:37, Luke 13:34).

Above Mary in the distance, tombs are opened (Matthew 27:52-53).

To the left, an earthquake cracks the distant landscape as lightning is seen in the sky (Matthew 27:51).

Behind a huddled group of Jesus’ followers, the top of a mountain tumbles into the sea.
